In this post, I am going to talk to you about Internet Marketing from a newbies point of view. So, if you are a beginner in the Internet marketing world then you should read on because there may be a few useful pointers here for you to read.
I will talk about what to expect from the ever evolving, confusing and potentially harmful world of bloggers, affiliates, gurus and much more.
Internet Marketing From A Newbie’s Point Of View
When you first enter the Internet Marketing world it is incredibly daunting. The reason for this is simple. There are SO many ways to get distracted, ripped off, confused, misinformed, misguided and the fact that 95% of ALL the information you will read online are lies makes the whole process even more disheartening.
The First Problem
The first issue you will face is deciding “How you are going to make money online?”. There are large amounts of methods, all requiring some degree of experience and they all have very steep learning curves:
- Blogging.
- PPC (pay-per-click) advertising.
- Affiliate marketing in conjunction with blogging.
- Become a YouTuber.
- Start a brand new idea or brand product.
- Start an Amazon niche website.
- and much, Much more…
What most people tend to do is to jump straight one of these topics head first. They Google something like “How to make money with PPC” and then they buy some “Guru” product and give it a try.
The problem here is that you will never succeed because when you start from scratch like that you are too naive to understand that making money online takes time. However, it is MORE than achievable by anyone.
The Second Problem
The second common problems newbies have is this. Due to the fact that they are still inexperienced, naive and impatient a newbie will never really know which products and services online are real, honest and will further their quest to making money online.
Like I said, 90% off ALL Internet marketing products are 100% scams and they sucker you in with promises of big paydays for very little work.
This is a big problem because when newbies get stung by these con artists it is incredibly disheartening and most people simply give up, and in the process label the whole I.M world as a scam.
Understanding How To Make Money Online
If you are a newbie then you need to get your head around how to make money online. Most people, including myself at first, think that you can come online start a business and make money within a week.
Unfortunately, this simply is not the case – at least not anymore. Sure, there used to be a time when you could achieve this glorious goal but nowadays it takes patience, time and planning.
If you want to make money with blogging:
You need to create a blog and post regularly (2/4 posts per week) for at least 6 months before you start to see results. Even then this will only be achieved if you provide well constructed and helpful information on whichever niche you have chosen. Kinda like I am trying to do here, at IpoopCash.com!
If you want to make money as a YouTuber:
You need to really think hard about your image and the branding behind your videos. You need be clear about who you are and what your niche is. Then you need to spend at least 6 months, possibly even years building up thousands of regular followers before you can even begin to start earning any regular income. Even then, that is only the beginning.
If you want to make money with PPC:
With PPC (pay-per-click) advertising you need to learn the hard way – by wasting money on advertising – and doing split test research on your results. You need to really research and understand what/who/where and when a person would buy whichever product or service you are promoting with advertising.
PPC is probably the quickest method to give you positive results but it is also by far the most costly. Most newbies think this is solved by throwing more money at the issue, but once again this is not the way to solve this problem.
Learning PPC takes a great deal of time, and a large bank account.
How Long Does It Take?
Making money online using Internet marketing is subjective. For some newbies you can tart earning within 3 months, for other it takes 12 months.
However, to make a “living” from Internet marketing takes years!
Think about it this way. In order for you to cover all your own personal expenses – rent, utilities, food, etc. You need to make thousands per month for you to be able to live comfortably.
Trying to achieve this while you are working a “normal job” at the same time as setting up your online empire is a major stumbling block, which is why it takes so long to get established online.
This does not even include the costs of running your online business, whatever that may be, so do not trick yourself into thinking that you will be the next Richard Branson within 12 months. This is very unlikely to happen.
BUT, the people who stick at it and hang in the for those first 12 months will see BIG results, and eventually, will be able to go full time as an Internet Marketer.
Is Internet Marketing Safe For Beginners?
I would say: Yes, it safe.
Nevertheless, you will get stung once or twice and lose some money. I think the only saving grace of the scammy Internet Marketing world is the simple fact that the majority of the low-quality products are very cheap – so when you do get suckered in, it is a very cheap lesson in some ways.
There are more high-end and very dangerous scams out there but most people will not have the funds to even enter these pyramid schemes. If you do have money and you are reading this then you should know this: How To Avoid Scams
How Should A Newbie Approach Internet Marketing?
Take it slow. Accept the fact that, regardless of how you try and make money online, it is going to take some time. Try a few different angles and get your feet wet a little bit. Once you gain some experience you will find the right path for you.
Everyone is different and some people are better at blogging, some are a genius with a PPC campaigns. Unfortunately, the only way you will know for sure is to spend a little bit of time, and money, to delve into these topics to realise if they are a good fit your own long term plans.
Personally, I love blogging. I can do it from anywhere in the world and I can take my time with it. I have no deadlines or live data I need to monitor around the clock. I write about the things I feel people want to know about and I take my time with the whole thing, which is the way I like it.
This is how I make money from blogging.
