Average Timeline Before Earning
I would say the average time period which passes before a beginner blogger makes his or her first sale is about 4/6 months. I am basing this on what I have seen and my own personal experience.
Here are a few factors to think about before you shoot me down in flames;
- The quality of content created.
- Competition within chosen niche.
- The frequency of posting articles.
- SEO structure of blog posts and websites.
All these bullet points contribute to whether or not you get ranked which ultimately, decide if you make money or not. Success is built gradually, but there is a snowball effect with blogging.
- The more your write, the more keywords get ranked.
- The more keywords get ranked, the more traffic you receive.
- The more traffic you receive, the more organic backlinks and social shares you accumulate.
- This leads to more traffic and SALES!
- Combine all four together and it gets easier to rank as you page authority grows, and Google trusts your content.
Depends On The Person
How well you do with Wealthy Affiliate depends on YOU. If you are eager, willing to learn and you do not get discouraged, then you will probably start seeing financial results with 2/4 months.
However, if you are very busy with your personal life and you may not have quite as much time on your hands – you will still see fantastic results. The rewards will just come a little bit slower, and it may take 4/8 months before you begin to amount any momentum behind your blog.
The key is to remain patient and keep working on your content because it takes time for Google to find you, trust you and then to rank your content.
Anyone can do it. You do not need to be a fantastic writer or have perfect grammar. As long as you are willing to learn, grow and improve your blog then you will win. If you are concerned about your English skills or web developments talent, then rest assured because these will develop with you as perfect your personal skills and your content.
What Kind Of Person Succeed?
The type of person who succeeds are the ones who are willing to write 50 + articles in 4 months, even though you have NO traffic coming to your website for the first 20 articles. The type of person who, despite seeing no results, will keep learning and keep developing their blog because they KNOW they can and will succeed.
Every Niche Is Different
Another factor with regards to how long it will take is the niche you choose. If you pick a highly competitive market then yes, it will take much longer. But it is still very much possible to have great success.
Every single niche has room for more websites because there is an unlimited amount of keywords for every single niche. Trends, habits and fashion changes for every year that passes. With it, comes new keywords and a new chance to rank on the first page of Google.
TIP – choose a low competition niche because you will see results just a little bit quicker which will motivate you and drive you to push that little bit harder.
Never Stop Writing
Regardless of your skill, chosen niche, or the competitive nature within. Never stop writing!
You will ultimately hit multiple walls along the way. A busy personal life, writer’s block or simply not knowing which direction to take. Whatever you do, regroup and keep writing.
Google needs to see fresh content and to reach that epic and beautiful goal of making money with Wealthy Affiliate, you must keep producing content for your blog.
What If I Am Too Busy?
That is ok. If you do have a hectic life and suddenly you do not produce any new blog posts for a few weeks, it’s fine.
Just take your time and don’t feel bad about it. Regroup and get back to it when you can. There are always going to be periods when your personal life will take control and put your blog on the sideline. That is totally normal at the beginning.
The key is not to forget about the blog altogether!
Write a few articles when you are on a hot streak and keep them for later. That means when you do hit a tough period and you are not updating your blog. You can publish these reserve articles and still keep your website up to date and moving forward.
How Long Did It Take Me To Make Money?
When I first started out with Wealthy Affiliate, I got my first sale after about 4 months. There is no better feeling than when you open your emails in the morning and see a “You’ve made a commission!” message. I have a case study which shows my results.
I hope you find some comfort in this post, and it helps to see that with patience, trust and some hard work you will see fantastic results.
You make some good points and I agree with you. I started my first niche site a few years back and took almost a year to start getting sales. The main reason was that I was not adding content on a regular basis and sometimes only added 1 post in a month. Many times I felt like giving up and I am really glad that I kept at it, even though my progress was slow.
The key thing is to keep at it, at whatever pace you can manage. It will eventually work out.
Hi, Les!
Thank you for your comment! I could not have put it better myself. Keep writing and never give up. I must admit it is easier to give up which is why people fail so often. I guess there is an emotional wall you keep hitting when you are writing a lot of content which no one is reading, but then gradually you start receiving visitors to your pages. The feeling of gratitude and joy when you get your first sale is truly magical.
I have recently signed up with wealthy affiliate. Im going through training to build my blog right now. I have a question. I cant seem to find the answer to anywhere. How do you recieve the commission? Is it through a paypal account or a check in the mail or some other method?
I am not sure what commission you mean. Do you mean when someone joins WA through your links? You can find the information under your “WA Affiliate Program” tab on the left hand side. The comission are paid out once per month.
Any more questions please ask. Happy to help! How is your blog coming along?
